Navigate Relationship and Personal Challenges with Our 24/7 Anonymous Chatroom for Support and Connection

Our chat room (channel) is hosted on the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network which you can connect to in a couple of ways:

  • For those new to IRC, the quickest and simplest way to enter the channel is to click the green button featured on this page. This will launch the chat widget embedded in our site without the requirement to install any new software;
  • Before entering chat, please read the chatroom code of conduct as misuse of the service will very likely result in a ban.

  • For those already familiar with IRC and wishing to connect via another client or app, our channel name is #peoplesproblems and the recommended server name is irc.libera.chat.

Access Notice

The chat room facility is not owned by, hosted, regulated or monitored by www.peoplesproblems.org. You can enter as a guest, but note that should you decide to create an IRC account then the access credentials are exclusively managed between you and the respective IRC network.

Privacy Guidelines

You should always conduct your own research before using any internet chat rooms, but for your safety, we would strongly recommend against sharing personally identifiable information such as e-mail addresses, social media profiles, telephone numbers and physical locations when using the service. If you would like to find out more about internet safety, the following documents have been suggested as a good starting point:

Specifically in relation to IRC, IP addresses are an integral part of how users are identified on the IRC network. The address your connection to the IRC network originates from may be displayed to other users and may be logged by connected servers / devices. In most cases, having your IP address displayed in this way is of little or no consequence. This is because IP addresses of cable, DSL, and dialup users are not easily connected to individual subscriber identities without the cooperation of the service provider.

The most information someone is likely to be able to obtain in relation to an IP address is a rough estimate of geographical location, which may be very rough or fairly specific depending on how your provider chooses to allocate IP addresses.

Receiving Advice

Advice or recommendations offered by other users in the channel may not be supported by professionally qualified individuals. You should therefore make careful consideration as to the value and potential outcomes that might arise from heeding such advice, especially as you have the most complete perspective on your situation.
