| Customer ReviewI bought this book when some of my friendships were changing and I was feeling abit sad about it and needed a lift. Well it worked - it gave me the lift I needed by helping me to understand the nature of changing friendships and some tips on how to cope with those changes. Topics include: the power of friendship, what is a friend, friendship patterns, how to be a better friend, friendship and work. Anyway, this book is so good I won't be parting with it and I will probably read it again. | Customer ReviewWhat a brilliant book! Will give you a good all rounder look at how we go about our friendships. Helped me to understand that unfortunately I had to let a best friendship sit on the sidelines and potentially move out of my life. Helps you to come to that decision and how to go about it. Talks about how to make more friends, better friendships or change the maybe some of the casual friendships into closer ones. If you have got a good set of friends that I feel it is crucial to happy life. So if you feel you need to sort them out. Give this book a whirl, it is worth its weight in gold. | Customer ReviewIn this lonesome world where families may be far away and we are more and more interacting with robots not human beings, friendship is more important than ever. In her book, Friendshifts, Dr. Yager points out that friendship is still a most curious and complicated relationship based on feelings. Those feelings, she notes, are complicated by legal, monetary, economic and social contracts. She explains how friend exists because of shared feelings but she also cautions against betraying confidences. She also tells when it is time to give up an old friendship that is outdated. If you want to have the great benefits of good friends, you have to be a good friend and you have to reach out. Friendshifts gives highly useful insights on how to establish and keep friendships that will enrich your life. | Customer ReviewI recently went through the traumatic experience of losing a "best friend". This book helped me to understand, on a very personal level, that this friendship was actually very one sided, and it was destined to eventually dissolve. I have read many books about all the other important THINGS in my life (i.e. hobbies, cars, homes, money, etc.), but never about something so important as our friendships we gather throughout our lifetime. This book, through very easy to understand definitions and ancedotes, explains just what a "casual friend", "close friend" or "best friend" is. These definitions clarified unresolved issues I had both in my heart and mind. Reading this book, could be life changing for some. In summary, I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who values friends and their friendships as being one of life's most valued treasures! - Jerry Mull |
