Will mistake shoplifting ruin my life
Please please no hate. Just kind advice! I made the stupid mistake of not scanning some items at a local supermarket. The store called the police and they issued a 'Community resolution order' I'm obviously never, ever going to make that mistake again! My question is, I understand they are different to a caution? I've done a lot of searching but I can't find real people's experiences of their dbs checks being renewed and it showing or not showing. I know the standard line 'will not shoe on standard but may as part of enhanced' I am absolutely terrified. My dbs is due for renewal. I've been working from home for a charity (no face to face work) for about 7 years now. I'm just so scared I'm going to lose my job over this
From the website https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/ask-the-police/question/Q760
"Community Resolutions are not disclosed as part of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) standard check. They might however, be disclosed as part of an enhanced check for certain offences in the 'relevant information' section, i.e., the offence has a bearing on the kind of work you are applying for."
I suspect your mistake won't ruin your life. What you did sounds pretty minor it sounds like it was judged as such based on it getting a community resolution order vs. a more serious citation.
While I suppose it is always possible that it will come up in one form or another, I think if you explain it the way you did here, it probably won't be a huge deal...especially if it's a one time thing.
