I broke up with a long term partner last year but he kept finding different ways to contact me and after months of talking we got back together after Christmas, the relationship has soon been the same as before we broke up,it has always been platonic because he has always had erectile dysfunction but now we are a lot older its no longer a problem.Recently he said a sranger phoned him at work asking for my partner by name then asking if he could arrange to meet up or give the stranger more information about my partners ex girlfriend,I don't believe my partner how would a stranger know his name or where to contact him,how would a stranger know my partner had a relationship with this ex,also according to my partner the sranger gave no contact information.
At this point all you can do is sit back and see if the stranger contacts him again.
If the stranger wants to meet again, go with him to the meeting.
First of all, I have an ex or two, and I would have known where each worked (at least for a while, until he moved or got a new job.) If the anonymous inquirer has a Facebook account, and your partner does, too, pretty easy to see "Joe Smith lives in Pasadena and works at Ye Olde Bagel Shoppe."
That being said, an anonymous request for gossip doesn't need to be honored. The ex is an ex for a reason, and someone digging for dirt (on her or your partner) is just petty.
My sister's ex called me and wanted to meet - he got my phone number from my mom, and lied to her about why he wanted to talk to me. I thought he had ulterior motives, and refused to meet with him. The breakup was between the two of them and was their issue, not mine. If the stranger wants to know more about your partner's ex-girlfriend, he or she can date her longer, Google her name and look for arrest records, Google her Linkedin account, the usual things we do to sneak around.
Things that make you go, HMMMM....

Why, after such a long time together, did you break-up with him?
Although, I suspect that should be - why, FINALLY, did you break-up with him, K3BA3? What WAS (all) the untenable behavour that he promised to cut-out if you took him back, but didn't? And how long (or short) did he "manage" to cut it out for?
