Emotional advice This is kind of belongs in a broad spectrum of categories on this site.. I'd like to first start out by asking people not to say "Stop doing that" or "Cheer up" or "Try harder" because neither of those things work and that is not a sufficient answer for any of life's problems. Secondly, I'd like to ask that you not judge me. Well, of course you will make a judgement about me, but please keep any negative judgement to yourself. Weird you can't space out paragraphs on here.. No matter, here it is: I've been looking for a job for about a year now. I'm 19, 20 here soon. Nothing has come along no matter how many places I apply to or how hard I try to get any sort of job. I've never had a job before. People only want to hire people with experience... But how can you have any experience if nobody will hire you? Furthermore, I don't drive because I don't have any money to buy a car/afford insurance and gas, which only makes it harder to find a job. Hopefully you can see why this is a dilemma for me. Because I haven't been able to find a job I resolved to do something else. I started sleeping with people for money probably around 5 months ago. At first it was whatever, I didn't care. But now I can't look at anyone the same and it was already hard for me to connect and socialize with people. I've gotten into drugs because of it, although I only do them when I go, which is about once every month. Amazing how I can have such a strong will against being addicted to hard drugs. I still don't have a job which just keeps pushing me back to these men's houses, even though I know it's dangerous and I don't want to go. I have anxiety attacks when I think about it and as I type this I can't tell you how many times I have had to backspace because my hands are so shaky. I feel like there is nothing left for me anymore and nobody seems to be able to help me so this is basically a last resort for me.

CAM - You aren't the first woman to feel forced into prostitution because of money woes. But you know that is a dangerous profession - emotionally, physical, and health-wise.

You seem very bright and able to write well. You have a strong will and seem resourceful.

Have you considered the military? I am not kidding.

Another thing is volunteering. Jobs come from that, too.

I have considered the military but someone told me they won't even let you in if you don't have your high school diploma. I don't believe that necessarily but at the time I kind of just shrugged it off and let it go.

I've volunteered at a few places- A homeless shelter overnight and I've done community service at an agricultural school.

I can't tell if it's me or bad luck that's preventing me from getting a job. It's hard to say when everyone else seems to be having an easier time than me.

See if you can get your GED.

Are your parents in the picture? Older siblings?

Is transportation your MAIN problem? Is there a relative who can help you out with a car?

I am the oldest sibling. My mom is in the picture but since she doesn't understand anything about how I feel she tells me I have a choice on whether I am happy or not and acts like I'm just not trying hard enough.

My ex stepdad is my father figure and he won't help me with anything since I am an "adult."

I've got my GED but I heard that wasn't sufficient. I'll read more on the subject now.

The military will let you in with a GED but you need a higher than normal score on the ASVAB as most branches of service only allow a maximum GED entry rate of 5-10 % of all recruits. Being without transportation is indeed difficult but it is not beyond reach to get somewhere. Public transportation requires a little more planning in order to get where you are going on time but this is not the cause of your problems. These are tuff economic times and even the most meanial jobs are already taken. I know this is probably not much help to you but I just wanted to let you know the military requirements
