Emotional advice I turned 23 yrs old 4 months ago and I graduated high school on time nearly 5 yrs ago and within that time, I have nothing to show for myself. I tried going to a vocational school and decided 4 months in, that what I was in for wasn't something I wanted to do the rest of my left and after Xmas vacation, I never went back. I haven't lived the "college" life and I feel like I've wasted the last 5 yrs of my life. Most of my friends have gone to college and only a very few of them graduated and the others quit to join the military. My other friends from high school became young parents and I feel like all of them are now strangers to me, because now our lives are so different. I don't know if I'm to old now to join college university and live the "college" life and party and meet people. I feel lost and everyday I wish I had a time machine to go back to graduation and re-live these last five years. I feel like I will just be starting a life that others around me have already lived and I'll be getting an extremely late start and that kind of makes me just want to forget it all.

Hi Stop looking back... and focus on today and the moment...... and what you can do in the future. you are still very young and this is the right time for you.

Will you stop looking out at others and seeing there choices and there lives and comparing your to theirs!!!!focus on you....

What do you want ..... write a list, follow your own path.... and do not give into the notion of age..... college life is not all about partying either you can go and do the WORK!!!!

Have you looked at mature student courses at night possibly it will have people your age and older...... college is full of all ages from teens to people in their 60's....

Your thinking, procrastinating, fears, unknown, failure.....etc has kept you here for 5 years...

Remember you cannot go back...... just forward....

Think of how you life will look in five more years if you do not MOVE........

You will still have to do the same thing....

I suggest you see a careers counselor.... just focus on doing that this week...

Try and work out what your interests are and follow it.....

Forget about fitting into a what ever one else does and what it looks from the outside..... which is not an accurate picture anyway if is an imagined.....
Jump in and take a risk..... for you....... do not give up on you will find your niche and your place when you focus on you and forget the crowd......

Look inwards .....

You say nothing about your interests and talents.

You need to find out more about yourself. Go to job placement center and get an aptitude test. It will reveal your talents and suggest some courses or plan of action.

EVERYONE wants to go back to the innocence and fun of high school. But that's not going to happen, so get out of that fanciful mind set and look towards the future.

If you stand still, you really slide backwards.

Good luck!
