Can anyone help me? I feel like I’ve wasted a ton of time and it’s really getting me down. I graduated from high school in 2009, preparing to attend community college for two years and then transfer, in hopes of becoming a teacher. I attended community college for three years. I decided teaching wasn’t’ for me (after obtaining three associates degrees while there). I then began taking online classes through a four year college to major in human services. I took one semester of that and decided I would like to major in business instead. Now that I am taking classes for business (and have been for a year), I am wanting to go back and finish my human services degree. However, I’ve been in college for five years already and fear that if I jump right back into that program, I will change my mind…again. My biggest fear is I will wake up one day, thirty years old and still in college with only an associate’s degree because I can’t stick with one program. Im the first one from my family to go to college so didn’t know anything coming in. I wish I’d taken time off after high school to get my crap together and decide what I want in life. I’m also afraid that by time I finish college, I will have been in 8+ years and think Wow, I could’ve been a doctor in this amount of time  I thought about just not going to school anymore. I have a good job already but don’t want to feel like a failure for not obtaining my four year degree. I need that degree whether I get a job in the field or not. I need to decide on a program and stick with it. One problem though…I am so burned out on school! Used to, I was so driven and had such passion for getting my work done and doing great in whatever I did. Now, I make good grades but it feels like torture, doing so much homework when I’m not sure if it’ll even pay off in the end. Can anyone give me advice? Ive been in college five years now and feel like Ive wasted so much time (maybe I haven’t because I have gotten a few associates degrees…but still, none that will really help me). Help anyone. If I don’t finish and get my four year degree, I will feel like a total failure, but school is dragging me down…big time.

Relax and stay in the moment, I understand what it feels like to be in a course and have doubts half way through ..... Stick with what you are doing and a degree is better than no degree think about it!!! I know so many people with degrees that cannot use them. Stay in the job and finish it out the degree. Then stay away for college for a while and get the head together sometimes studying for prolonged periods can burn you out.... I did ten years in college it took most of my 20's but no regrets..... If school is really getting you down , then get a break for a year.... screw it..... get your head together. Go back to college only when you are doing something you really want to and are passionate about..... You could save the pennies from your job and do some travel ...

My main point being get some head space to think clearly..... you seem all over the place and I can imaging the anxiety I remember . Uncertainty is not a nice place to be in..... it may get worse.... sorry... this is taking over your life.... I think the year or two out may be beneficial to you.

Have you ever taken an aptitude tests? That will show your strengths and give suggestions for careers. I think you need to talk to a career counselor and see how all this work you did can come to a point.

Ok, I suggest that you go with the degree that you're the farthest along in. The farther you are, the less school you need in order to complete the schooling you want. Go with your gut too, if you know there's one that you would prefer over the other, do it. But it's good to have multiple areas that you are good at. Good luck bro!
