I don't know what to do
I finished hotel management in Palestine, I was born and raised in Romania, my mom ( she passed away ) was romanian and dad is arabic so we live here now, we moved 5 years ago. As i said i recently finished studies and now i am actually working after 1 years of looking for work, i work in a hotel that is relatively close to home 30 minutes with a bus, i liked it cuz its close and i get to go home every day, but what i hate about it, is the fact that i am working as a cleaner. well i don't hate it that much, i would work sometihing else of cours, and i hate my coworkers my boss and everything, what makes me stay at this work is the fact that my father had a brain problem and now he can't stand up he will recover from it, but takes time, so i need to make money for myself.
Before my father had this problem and everything, i told him that i want to save up money 3.000$. to go to Europe and make a life for myself there, he agreed to it, but what he dosn't know is that i want to go to a country that gay people are treated better then palestine, i want to find someone i like and he likes me and make a life with him..
Now the problem im facing is that i hate my workplace, i am dissapointed in myself for studying hotel management, and i can't change my decisions that i made in the past, i want to find something more relaxing in an office, but in this country its very hard to do so, everyone wants people with experience, and my work in this hotel offers experience in the cleaning department, i should work something like a receptionist i have 3 languages arabic romanian and english, but still they ask for experience and i don't have it, i applied to a lot of hotels, and i also applied outside of palestine, i don't even have time to look up for other places now that i work here, i have one day off which is randomly set, if we have work i don't have any day off, if the hotel is not crowded i can have a day off. i really don't know what place to work to feel better. right now i feel like im being suffocated from work and home.
Does your manager know that you want to move up positions in the hotel? You have worked as a cleaner, what other job do you desire?
Try to be more upbeat about what you are doing and what you have to offer this hotel. You say you hate this workplace. That most likely gets revealed in how you do your job.
You must request a specific day off so that you can look for other employment. (Don't tell your current job that you are looking for another job.)
Can you approach your boss and tell him you want to advance in the company, is there anyway to be crossed trained on the receptionist desk?
it might benefit you to use this job to obtain more experience. Offer to train on your day off- as hard as it is, CHANGE your attitude! it is important to get your boss on your side- tell him you are willing to do whatever it takes- you must continue to stay on top of your job.
Since you speak 3 different languages- you might want to look into what it takes to become an interpreter if this would be something you would be interested in.
