ADVICE PLEASE I'm 18 dating a 34 year old man... My relationship with him is super different then my past ones, he is currently a musician. I'm a super jealous girlfriend & he hates that but he has done mistakes that led me to be jealous, constantly looking through his phone. Not so long ago, I decided to look through his "Music Page" messages & I found that he was inviting his ex girlfriend to a concert of his. I was so shocked & went off! & every time when we are in the moment "phone sex" he likes to bring up "*****" and even girls names.. & some are my friends. I think that's why I get so jealous when he looks at girls, & he does it A LOT!!! I just go along with it for his pleasure but when we are done, it has me thinking all day! Like if i'm not enough for him and I asked him & all he says is that I am & he only wants me. I recently found pictures of A LOT of girls on his phone, some were my friends and I got soooo mad! But I never know why I can't let him go! HELP!! What should I do?

A 34 year old man who is with an 18 year old? Did you ever wonder about that? That just seems odd, since most 34 year olds are married and with kids. Perhaps he must have "fresh adoration" all the time. He seems like an addict for attention. "But I never know why I can't let him go!" Can I suggest counseling for you to figure out why you accept his behavior?

The age gap isn't necessarily a problem. I have been with my partner for 5 years, we have a beautiful 2 year old girl, and are getting married in 2018. When we got together I was 37 & she was 19. However, his behaviour does suggest that you cannot trust or rely on him so I would stay well clear.

Most people don't date others that are almst 2x their age, not to say it doesn't work, but the maturity level and the stages they're at in their own lives don't match. I've seen it only work one time and their marriage is very shaky. That isn't the important factor here, however, because you both seem to be on the same maturity level. Girls your age are naive and get their hearts broken, and guys your age are generally still in that mind set that a girl's body is what makes her girlfriend worthy material or not. My best advice is to dump this lowlife. He's only going to keep hurting you, and if he is cheating he may also physically hurt you. STDs spread like wildfire in those situations. Focus on getting yourself to the next step. You're either finishing up high school or just graduated. This is the cleanest and easiest opportunity to do whatever you choose. You can often change your mind later but it's not this easy. Trust me. Go find something you can find passion in doing everyday and someone amazing will just randomly walk into your life. Don't go looking for them.
