My friend wants me to go to a party with her and I'm not sure I want to go
When my friend heard that I'm free Saturday night she begged me to go to a party with her. She met the guy that is having the party on the internet and have not met him in real life. The party itself is in a nearby city and I'm not so sure I want to go.
I feel really awkward talking to strangers and I'm kinda scared what a group of 18 year old boys can do to two 15 year old girls. She is really excited and she told me if I was not going she would go by herself and I don't want that ether. I'm worried about her. She has a couple of really bad stories about what guys have done to her and a don't want that to happen to her again.
What should I do? Am I just over protective and boring or am I right not wanting to go?
Go with your gut instincts, if you dont feel comfortable hanging around with guys then dont go. Just talk to your friend about the insecurities that you have.
Back up your insecurities with horror stories from people online. If you believe the party is dangerous tell one of her parents in confidence and then she will not be allowed to go anyways. your friend doesnt have to know that you told them.
I agree with the above.
You said it best when you said, "I feel really awkward talking to strangers and I'm kinda scared what a group of 18 year old boys can do to two 15 year old girls."
If you don't think a group of 18 year old guys who are drinking can overpower 2 15 year old girls, you are nuts. The only way you can win that is to avoid that.
I've seen two crime TV shows lately, one where a teenage girl met her fellow 16 year old boy she met on the net. He turned out to be a 38 year old monster who got her to take nude pictures of herself. When she refused to get in his truck on the first encounter and left, he blackmailed her by saying he would spread her nude pictures (he talked her into taking earlier than the first encounter) across the high school where she went.
So she went back to his truck for a second time, got in, and he killed her. If you don't think 36 year olds or 18 year old males don't know more about how to lure 15 year old girls into trouble, you were born yesterday.
The 2nd such true crime TV show had a 16 year old girl go to a "private party" with 3 teenage boys. They were drinking, got her drunk, raped her and killed her. She knew the 3 boys. They were still drinking, they still raped her, one got afraid she was going to report them for underage rape, and so one of them killed her. The others just stood there because they didn't want to get killed, too. Nobody is coming to your defense once this starts.
You're outnumbered, you're younger, you're weaker, you're stupid.
If she insists on going, you're going to have to let her go by herself. She maybe be bluffing. She may not go if you don't go.
If she still insists on going, you may need to inform her parents. You may inform a school counselor, and let her call the parents. Of course, the counselor may not actually call the parents. You may have to call the parents, "Did you get a call from the conselor?"
You aren't boring. You're brave.
