I m 20+ year old engineering student in a relationship with a girl from commerce background same age currently in t.y bcom...her parents are over possessive and Orthodox type want to get her married as soon as possible...they don t know about us...but my image in her family is the best one outsider can have as I m her elder brother s best friend, her brother knows everything about us ,recently the search for bride has fastened up by her mom and I still have around 2 years to get settle and I m going for upsc after engineering ,we are in 3rd year of relationship, my mom clearly knows I want to marry her and has no objections and even my dad has a hint of it but from my side it is pretty much clear ,I m gujurati vaishnav boy and she is a marwadi jain girl...please suggest something
What is/are their REASON/S for wanting to marry her off as rapidly as possible? If you can list those, maybe I or someone else here can come up with ideas of how *you* could be presented to them as the more obvious first choice, even *if* that means waiting a little longer? After all, her elder brother, via his long-term-sustained action of wanting you as his best friend, is a damn good indicator that you'd suit her well and she you...which obviously would help things along enormously. After all, a husband can be as marked-out for success, commercially, as you like. But if the couple don't get on, ergo he's living constantly under a climate of copious aggro - really, how much more successful can he continue to strive to be, or for how long will that success likely be maintainable?
These things are intrinsically linked, make no mistake. So if their wish is to see her settled and long-term provided well for, they would have a choice: a wealthy but short-lived marriage (either through actual or merely emotional-psychological divorce...and what man who hates or hates back his wife is going to be generous towards her or his in-laws with money?) *or* genuinely financially set for-life AND BLISSFULLY HAPPY WITH IT.
Only a couple of fools would choose the former, wouldn't you say?
