Road safety whilst on my scooter

Morning. Whilst being out on my scooter,I was going down a country lane and a car started reversing out of their drive. They didn't see me until the last minute,nearly mowed me down. I froze and forgot where my horn was. They apologized and went on their way. It shook me up a bit. I also have cars overtake me whilst others are coming in the opposite direction so I ease off just incase they need to get back in. If i see a few cars behind me I try to pull in to a layby if I can,if a car isn't tailgating me. I am frightened that when they are too close,if I signal,even in good time to pull into a lay by that they'll go into the back of me. I signal in good time going into the road that leads to where I live and many a time a car has had to go round me because they are too close. I've had a lorry tailgait me before and that was quite unnerving. I couldn't slow down and turn into another road or into a lay by because they would've gone into the back of me so when I found a lay by that I could go straight into with no breaking required,I did that and the lorry past me just as I pulled over. I blasted my horn. A driver started to pull out at a junction whilst i was going along. I eased off to let them turn out,them blasted my horn. A mate recommended getting a camera to go on my helmet. Are they easy to use? I am rubbish when it comes to technology.

Hey Fishingnet36, Well, I know a lot of cars these days have dash cams. I'm sure there probably is some sort of cam you could mount on your bike, or helmet, or something. It might even be worth it to get one that faces behind you and one that faces in front, and potentially captures the license plate number of the vehicle in question. From my experience, it's dangerous out there just driving in a car, it's got to be a lot more dangerous on the road for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists and scooter drivers. I've had a few close calls, there's always some person that stops and causes everyone behind them to have to hurry up and stop, or someone who swerves in and out of traffic without using their turn-signals. Fact of the matter is, it's an impatient world, made even more impatient by people who are stupid. Maybe take a good look at the routes that can get you where you need to go, and choose to drive along roads that see less traffic. A change of scenery can be nice now and then, and at any rate, you might find a way of lessening your chance of being severely injured and having your scooter crashed into.

Thank you AlTREAL and SUSIEDQQ. I'll try some quieter roads. Getting a camera that faces in front and one that faces behind is a good idea. I have a fluorescent jacket. I found that drivers still tailgaited me.

I ride a bicycle. I don't know much about your scooter but even during the day I use 1200 lumen light and a flashing red tail light on my bike. These lights not only help people see me but drivers also seem to give me more room on the road when I have my lights on. I also bought a really loud horn for a car to put on my bike. When I'm around, you know it. The horn is illegal but I don't care. I'll relish my day in court.
