Getting the silent treatment

This is certainly not the first time I have encountered this situation with my husband of 7 years, but here is my situation. Yesterday we had plans to go to the beach. He told me I would have to drive as he did not like driving over the bridge. Then he said he was dizzy. He used this same excuse the last two times we went to the beach. I did drive those last two times. And, the beach he wanted to go to was way far north. Then he said I have two choices; to either drive over the bridge, but go way north to the beach HE wanted, or if he were to drive he would drive us to the beach in the city next to ours, which you also have to drive over the bridge to get to. It didnt make sense to me how he could drive one bridge and not the other, there is no difference. So after going back and forth he started with his usual antic of giving me the silent treatment. As of now he still has not spoken to me and this incident occurred yesterday morning. I made dinner for him last night and got his coffee and work stuff ready for him this morning. Nothing. Our neighbors invited us out to dinner, and now I am going to have to go tell them we cant make it. In my opinion I think giving me the silent treatment is very childish and controlling behavior and it only makes things worse. Any words of advice?
