Why the f**k is he doing this to me

So I was hooking up with this guy for a few months during the summer. He said he liked me but he was weird about dating and we never discussed it. I left cause the job was seasonal. I found another seasonal job for the winter and it turns out he works here too. We were away from each other for a month. We never really texted, he never answered my snaps, so I forgot about it. Turns out he now has a gf and said he’s trying this boyfriend thing and long distance. P.S. he told me we wouldn’t work out because of distance. So the rent day he cheated and we hooked up again. And it’s continuing. I know I’m also the bad one here And he’s taking advantage of me. I’m so freaking confused...I don’t understand why he wouldn’t date me and he said it would change things. I think he likes how fun and spontaneous it is and he also said he likes that we can just chill. Which is what we could do if we were together. I’m just asking if anyone’s been in a similar situation and has any clue why a guy would act this way. I already know how I should handle the situation, which I’m gonna take care of soon, I just want to know why he’s doing this to me

Yeah, I think you’re right by the sounds of it he’s doing this just for fun and isn’t looking for anything serious at the moment, possibly coz long distance relationships are hard but he should not leading you or anyone else on or giving mixed signals. He's kinda already told you by telling you he likes it that you can just chill together, which sounds like he just wants to be friends for now.
