Commitment issues

So I’ve been friends with this person for over a year now and we’re overly friendly. We hold hands and and act like a couple at work which is how we met but he never wants to commit and see me outside of work. He always has an excuse, sometimes it’s just I’m tired. Today he told me he didn’t want to commit to anything. Everyone thinks we’re going out but I kinda feel like I’m being played. I really like him though and he knows that. What do I do? Everytime I get angry at him, he pacifies me and now I’m just sad and I don’t know what to do.
