Knowing if the guy is worth the investment

I feel foolish but don't know where else to turn. I'm dating a guy that is sweet, and funny and affectionate. However he simply won't work or do anything to try to get a stable income for himself. He came on strong very romantic and flattering. I'm not a bad looking female so I didn't think it was a lie. He admitted up front that he wasn't doing well financially but that he wanted to go to school and improve his life. Here we are 3 months later and nothing has improved. No job, no reliable transportation and no plans to get one. I agreed to let him stay with me about a month ago because he recently went through a bad situation. Now he's inviting his family to my apartment that he contributes nothing to accept for his physical presence and cleaning up after some of his messes. Am I wrong to be frustrated and wanting to demand he leave or am I stupid for allowing him to be here this long?
This issue you're going through is not benefiting you and cause more tension. I say you've given him plenty of time. The issue here is that you need to put your foot down and give him a time frame of either schooling or a job. if he has neither in the time frame given he is taking advantage of the situation. Youll be left to figure it out from there of what you're going to probably have to do.
