i was on the contracetion injection (12 weekly) for almost 2 1/2 years and decided to not go back for my next injection which was due at the end of september 2005.i did not have a period or bleed at all during this time and it is now february 2006 and i have not had a period at all. i know that it takes different women a different amount of time for their bodies to adjust but i was just wondering what is the norm? the nurse at the family planning clinic mentioned something about another injection that would bring my periods back faster but said nothing more than that. i dont feel i can not trust my GP as he has not been that reliable in the past regarding my mother's illness. is there any chance that the abnormality of not bleeding during this period of time could reduce my chance of conceiving in the future without difficulty?

Hi Pebbles, Unless there are some qualified visitors to our site who can offer advice, then I think you are probably best getting help from NHS Direct. They give advice over the phone, and will make recommendations whilst taking into account personal circumstances. You get to speak to trained professionals, and many of the nurses / doctors are specialists in certain areas as well - so you should find them a great resource. You can contact them on 0845 4647 (available 24 hours a day). Or visit their website which is http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/ There is no cost to use the service (except the cost of the call which is local rate), because it is part of the NHS (National Health Service)...
