Does it ever make sense to reconcile with ex?

My ex and I just broke up recently - I broke it off with him. He replied quickly and said he was sorry and understood but really was sad we weren't going to be together since I've been with him for many years. Then about 10 days later, he reached out to me to try to tell me we belong together and we can work through the issues; said he was sorry for his bad behavior and also pointed out I was wrong too (which I've acknowledged before). He said he has worked out his lack of honesty about his $ issue (which is why I broke it off and did so a few times over the years). He also promised to be fully truthful. I do believe he loves me but I'll be honest I'm exhausted and not certain how i feel about him - if I really love him the way I used to. He also said we should be together and he'll show me he is a man of his word rather than be apart and come back at a later time to prove he cleaned up his act. What is the best way to proceed?

Yes it makes sense to be able to reconcile with your ex but it depends on how far you need to go with it. If your instinct is telling you that it's not worth it and you don't know whether to go back and be a couple again, then you need to listen to it because your instinct is always right. Your need to look at your ex's actions and ignore his words.
