My boyfriend needs to lose weight and it's not working, how do help?

My boyfriend and myself both have always had issues with weight. Him more than me, but we both lost a pretty big amount of weight not too long ago. At some point he started binge eating again though and that makes me and him both unhappy. To me his health is the number one priotity and it scares me to see him lose control when it comes to eating. He always askes me for help but at some point he needs to start taking control over his weight himself. Right now it feels like I care more about his weight than he does and I feel horrible for saying this, but I'm starting to lose hope in him ever being healthy without my constant support and monitoring. What do I do now? Had anyone experienced this before and what did you do to help him/her further?

Professional counseling and therapy are two ways to help you guys. You BF knows he has an issue as he asks you for help but yes, he does need to take responsibility and basically it's not up to you to have to monitor him. You can support him but it's a two way street because you can't afford to neglect yourself.

You can't help someone that won't help himself. You can love him...listen to him...and be there for him. But stop putting this burden on yourself...you don't have control over anyone but you. Keep taking care of you...and you can only hope that he STARTS again to want to take care of himself. I know that I am a "binge" drinker and I only "binge" when something is bothering me. You could ask if he needs counseling for whatever is bothering him...but other than that...TRY to focus on you.

I agree, but it's easier said than done to just let it go. As much as I want to see him fight for himself and get his eating problem straight...I don't think he will get their without someone's help. My help had worked for a very big part cause he lost about 15 pounds cause I started working out with him and eating right. But then slowly half of that weight came back to him and not me (i lost about 8 pounds).

Again..Im going to equate this eating problem to my drinking issue. I can stop for a few days for someone....but I will never stay stopped fully unless it is my decision and for ME and my health. So you helped him and he lost 15...but then he slowly went back to gaining....because no one can do anything unless it comes from inside their own hearts and heads. :(
