In laws throwing a fit about the idea of my family moving. Was told that I may as well have another kid and leave the other with them because they are not going to allow us to move with their grandchild. Mind you that this is a retirement community and we cannot afford to own a house here. There is nothing here for young families. They don't understand because they dont have to rent and never bought a house. They are living in a house that was given to them by my father in laws late parents. They want us to stay here so they can try to buy a large lot of land and move onto it and have us pay them to live in the place they are currently in.

It looks like they want to solve your housing issue but if it's your career that your worried about and the fact that your child and future children, will need a robust community to thrive in, then you may have to agree to disagree with them, but only of course, if you and your wife are adamant that you need to relocate for the better. Everything's negotiable, which is win/win, and your in laws need to realise that in this situation, it's you and their daughter's happiness which takes priority.
