Getting or not a university degree
BLACKMERCEDES - Mar 31 2021 at 19:51
Hello guys! I would really appreciate it if someone could give me an honest opinion about what would be better to do.
So, I'm graduating high school this year and I have two options.
The first one is to continue my studies. I've been trying really hard to get good grades all the past years. I have the opportunity to move to another country to study Computer Science. Consequently, I will move to a city where life must be more interesting. However, after graduating I'll have to seek a job etc
My other option is to remain where I currently live which is a small touristic village that I find boring. Not to mention that I don't have any friends here, nor can I get to know someone. Anyway, if I stay here I'll join the family business which is a small hotel in a small italian village owned by 3 people. This will offer me an income of 7K-10K euros per year.
I'm really clueless about which one would be the correct decision to make. I really hope that you will share your thoughts with me. Thank you all in advance.
It's good that your family have offered you an option, but at the end of the day, you need to do whatever will make you happy. Regardless of the money and the security, if you're happy to work in the business, then all good, but if it's just going to be a passionless job, then you'll eventually walk away because you won't be happy. If you leave and earn a degree, you can always return afterwards whatever the circumstances.
You're in charge of your own destiny and you need to follow your dreams without looking back over your shoulder, regardless of whether you stay or go. Your post mentions the word 'opportunity' and you need to take every one that comes along in life because they don't hang around waiting for you. It's a big decision to make, especially at your age, but it's yours and yours alone to make.
Hi BLACKMERCEDES: It sounds like you have already made up your mind and you just need some reassurance. Anyone objectively reading your post can sense you passion to leave and explore a new adventure, especially in an industry with a future. Post High School graduation is usually a good time to explore new things and territories and to follow your passions. Later, families and careers have a tendency to distract us from such things.
Perhaps you can do both. You mentioned you need a job after graduation. That is being responsible. Good for you. Can you work at the hotel until you have the resources to move on? Would the other owners give you such a opportunity knowing it is temporary? If so, you may have the perfect scenario.
God speaks to us with our skill sets and in our passions. Listen to Him.
Let us know how it goes.
I've got 5 children 3 off all have or are currently studying in uni of there choice. They've each moved away, house sharing, uni halls and as a parent I've watched them gain independence and the experience itself is an opportunity do you want to miss out on
I agree I think you've made up your mind 🤗 so go for it , The family business could still be an option in the future if it doesn't work out for you
College or University education is a scam.. This is why. If you live in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA you (me too) have been dumbed down to the point of retardation (I don't mean this sarcastically) This all started with the introduction of the evil "PRUSSIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM"
First = What financial institution do you know of that would give a 17 year or 18 year old person who still lives at home with no full time employment, no collateral a loan for $150,000 dollars ??? ( the answer is ... none)
All these young adults graduating with a "higher education" are drowning in student LOANS.... they are worse than the juice a loan shark would charge...
We have been systematically dumbed down, if you want to learn the truth than read this book free pdf:
