Advice on my mental health please?

I have just turned 39 I moved back home recently (I am embarrassed about it) In the past when I was looking at places to move into my parents would scaremonger me or try to block it saying: you won’t cope you will lose your job renting is dead money etc. Then when I moved in with a mate it was you can’t trust him etc. Then with my ex it’s you can’t trust her etc. They only want me to live here to pay the bills. I’ve saved hard and have a deposit for a mortgage and a decent job. It depressed me as people my age have settled down but I have never had any support

The good news is you have already done this, it seems. So you *can* it's just a matter of overcoming your parents' objections. Renting is not "dead money." Buying a house in the end costs more than renting. Yes, you have a house if you buy one. But guess what? A house is not a piggy bank. If you sell that house you're going to have to take that money *and pay for another place to live.* I had an old BF who swore he'd never buy a house. He never has in 40 years. So, no buying lawn mowers or snow blowers, or replacing furnaces, or well pumps. Smaller living quarters = less furniture, lower heating/cooling bills, lower electrical bills, less cleaning supplies, etc. I don't regret buying a home, but my late husband could do a lot of the maintenance. Now that expense is all on me. I live ****very**** frugally to support that, and the benefits are; no one telling me I can or can't hang out a flag, or telling me when I can vacuum or not, I like my garden.

Maybe you should still find yourself a separate home. You will succeed! Good luck!

You are no longer a teenager. Do what you like without considering your parents' opinion
