Asking my partner to give up his dream

Me and my partner have been together for over 6 years and been living together for 3 years I am a student who attends university 3 days a week and works for another 2 days. My partner only works two days a week It would be too long to explain how we afford rent but let's just say we a fortunate due to his fathers Income. Meaning my partner can work two days and afford to pay bills. My partner want to be a Dj/Musician but has failed to provide a decent Income due to it being a difficult industry and also sometimes isn't motivated to create anything or try get in contact with bars or clubs. Can I ask him to give up his dream and get a full time Job in something that may not relate to Music. Often I find myself Jealous that he Only works two days a week and I find myself looking at other relationships where there partner buys gifts or they both go on holiday or are doing up there house none of these things we can do because we can't afford to do it. I asked him to consider Music college again as he attended a while back but left after a year. There is another college he could attend but He says it's too far to travel to (Its an hour away and would only be two trains journeys) Is he being Lazy?, Am i wrong to ask him to consider other options now? Is it just me being Jealous of how easy he has it?

He's a bit dense isn't he? He's also selfish & probably still a little kid if he reckons you guys can make ends meet by you doing all the hard yards. It's all very well for his Dad to provide (that's part of the problem) but he won't always be around & your man needs to understand that a successful relationship is about sharing first & foremost. When we share, we become closer to our partners & we begin to discuss issues which need solutions (such as yours) which in turn strengthens our relationship...there's has to be a give & take & it can't be all one way. He doesn't need to give up his dream, but if he didn't have other cash coming in, where would you guys be? So it's off to work for him because you have to crawl before you can walk & if he puts his head down now, he may well end up a successful DJ one day. Nobody's is going to give it to him & that includes you. Some serious discussion with him should set him straight, because after over 6 years, you should know if you have a future with this man. When you graduate & start bringing in some decent? cash, will you put up with his self centred selfishness while he sits around, still waiting for someone to give him his dream job?

Excuse quick interjection, GreyLion - the thread and topic and right-to-reply is still yours... Mannie I could hug you for-real! I came out of replying to (meh...) "WetBlanket", expecting to take the next and - ALL DONE! Mostly by you! WHAT A TREAT! I have been PRAYING for help - for a bloody year, now (or more?)! "Haaaa...le....lu....llia!" :D What a lovely Xmas pressie! (Awww, don't go....even when you're back to full health... (puppy-dog face) - stay forever (again)!)

PS: " Is it just me being Jealous of how easy he has it?" No. Resentful. Rightfully so.
