True love or puppy love?

MY boyfriend and I have lived together for three months now. I have always had this thing for looking at the little cheap rings at walmart even when I was single. One night we were there together and I stopped to look, as I always do, and he got mad. His explanation was it is too soon to even think about anything like that. As I said, we've lived together three months now. I have two children from a previous relationship, where their father is not in their lives, and they have taken to calling him Daddy, which he absolutely loves. So, if he accepts my children, and we live together, with him paying the bills so I can stay home with my children, why is it too soon to talk about engagement?

i hope thats all it is. believe me, im trying lol. i married once for the wrong reason, even though it was right at the time. i had a custody suit with my daughter and my attorney suggested i get married to someone who would adopt her. so i married my best guy friend and it ended horribly. so he thinks im flippant about marriage. but i had just turned 18 and i was facing losing my daughter to a horrible person who walked out on her when she was 11 days old. in my mind, then and now, i feel i made the right decision. i just wish he could understand that mothers do what they have to do to protect their children.

First, don't move in before you get the ring. Especially when there are kids involved. Single parents introduce kids way too soon and fast with their new loves. If it does not work, the kids now have to go through another man moving out. It possibly could be true love but you want it sooner than he's ready. And he's close with the kids and paying bills is all good, but what happens if it ends and he moves out. You're sad and down and jobless. Date, fall in love, he proposes, you all get married then you move in.

Marriage is a big step for a lot of people. Has he ever been married before? Was he almost married and a really painful event happened? Men don't always open up about their feelings as easy as most woman do. If you haven't asked maybe you should, though don't pry or that might lead to a fight.
