The five year engagement

Default profile image
Ok, I'm not really engaged.... technically.... but I am in a situation where I feel as though I've been a married woman for years and can't even get the courtesy or sincerity of a proposal. We are high school sweethearts. He a year older than I and we have lived together since I was 18. All in all we have been together for almost 8 years. long time for such a young couple. personally i am pretty proud of it. However the one nagging thing in the back of my head is why won't he propose. We have had our ups and our downs just as any other serious couple. No relationship is perfect. We broke up for one year (break up in which i just moved out yet we continued seeing each other even though we had begun seeing other people). ever since then and we got back to living together things have been great. So what i am at conflict with myself as this new year begins is do i move on at the end of the year if i never get my proposal or just tough it out and just believe in love and not care about the status? This issue has been depressing me for years and he can't seem to meet me half way even when i tell him i don't care if we get married 10 years from now, i just want to know that it is going to be a matter of "when" and not "if".
