Confusing ex boyfriend.. what to do?!

8 weeks ago my ex walked out on me and our son Bradley. He gave the excuse we are going through a rough patch , then about a week later said im not in love with you , but I'll always love you and I want to stay friends ( I don't believe him you'll see why) When he comes to visit Bradley it's weird. He asks my advice , tells me certain stories , stories about his day etc , flirts with me , asks about my day. He's swore on Bradley's life he isn't seeing anyone or sleeping with anyone and asked me the same (not straight out , he was clever with his questioning). He says he's not interested in a new relationship and hasn't got time for girls. He hugs me when I'm upset , 3 weeks ago he gave me a back rub ( HE IS NOT TRYING TO BED ME ) , he 9/10 starts the conversation , if it ends he will do something daft to get my attention. I catch him staring at me too. He's comfortable around me aswell , like he will sit close to me to show me a picture or video , he uses old jokes that we had when together , on Sunday when he was going he patted my head and said cya later trouble and gave me a big cheesy grin. I'll say you can see Bradley for 2 hours he ends up being here like 5/6. If u go out when he's here he asks me (trying to be non chalant ) where I've been. He gets annoyed if I ignore his texts , because he will be like next time I see him " have I done something to upset you it's just cause u ignored me". I think he's either being extremely inappropriately friendly , playing head games or wants me back. I'm scared to ask incase it is head games , it gives him an ego boost. Oh one more point , before Christmas we had a photo of me him and Bradley done professionally and he says he's put it in a frame in his bedroom!!!! ( I REPEAT HE IS NOT TRTING TO BED ME ) so any helpful advice or thoughts on what he is doing is great

It could be because he has cheated because he could have felt guilty and now feel less guilty. But still feel guilty enough to not sleep with you and this would explain him not wanting to be with anyone else and still having feelings for you. Or it could be because he hasnt as has feelings for you all it could be an ego boost. I would ask him straight out and watch his body language.
