Needing more but just hurting him

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for five months and its like we never spend enough time together. When i invite him to things or make plans with him he backs out and expects me to not be disappointed or upset, then we get into arguments. I don't mean to hurt him. He always says he can't live up to what i want from him but he'll never break up with me. I don't know what to do or what to say because i truly care for him alot.

Do you think the way he is treating you, reflects him having strong feelings for YOU? Is this how most people would behave if they really cared about another person? It is like he has a fishing line and hook out there and YOU are caught on his line. He keeps realing you in, without making any real attempt to catch or keep you. What is wrong with this picture? Perhaps it is the sport (the chase) rather than the prize (YOU) that he is after? Something to entertain him until he spots the REAL keeper?
