Both like each other, but won't date

A girl and I have been together for a little while now. We have talked EVERY day and frequently see each other. We kiss and hug and are super close. The problem is that we are not boyfriend and girlfriend. We brought it up and I told her that I wanted her to be my girlfriend. She said she wanted me to be her boyfriend. Im leaving for an out of state college for 4 years and that is the reason she wont date me because in the past, she has had friends (I dont know if it was a boyfriend) she was really close to, go to college and they end up growing apart and never talking again. She doesnt want to get hurt. Thats her reason. She wants to be together but she doesnt want to be hurt. I love this girl and she is the most amazing girl in the world. If we went out, I would be the happiest guy knowing that back where im from I have a beautiful girl waiting for me. And I'd visit during the year multiple times. I would be loyal because I really care about her. Another problem. Shes on vacation and she made out with a girl. A complete stranger. Shes not lesbian. It hurt me because she wont go out with me, but she will make out with a complete stranger. Now im questioning whether she was the girl thought she was... Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm so confused and i just want to be with her. Thanks!!

Dude, I had the same thing happen to me. But without the college part. Just be careful. Because the reason you think you want her so bad, is because you can't have her. Just be wary.
