Diary & Ranting - Doomsday is all a lie, why do people agg it on?

Hey, It's me, BrokenDST. You may have seen me in the chat room ranting about various things in my life, but I decided it was time I broke it down on the forum. This is a little "series" I figured I'd start here that I call Raving Rants (creative, eh?) which is in a nutshell just me debunking random B.S. and ranting about pointless things (cue "You Know What Really Grinds My Gears?!" clip from Family Guy) So first in this Rant is lies and propaganda about "doomsday" or "the end times". Why do people brood on and on and on about something that's essentially NEVER going to happen for almost an eternity? Don't people know the definition of "forever"? It's simple, really; forever means that time will never end. If the world has been alive and kicking for almost BILLIONS OF YEARS and not only managed to survive the most vicious attacks from space (at least not harmful enough to cause a catastrophe), why would anyone expect something so minor like an ancient discovery or something biblical to be considered some "sign of the dark ages"? It's not like anyone controls anything about it, and who cares anyway? Not only that, but here's what I don't get; people constantly use the term "The Last Days" when they talk about this. The question is, the last days of what? What are they expecting to happen? Where is the evidence? All they're calling it is "the last days" and they don't even mention anything else. The last days of someone's life? People need to understand that you need evidence of something before you prove something to someone, and here they are going around saying we're all going to die when they have practically nothing to prove it to anyone! It's like going to McDonalds without money in your wallet. You might as well be blabbing on about why cows look fat or why the sky is blue. I've been bugged about this gigantic hoax so much that I've found myself going to dozens of hundreds of thousands of web pages doing research about why we are not living in the end times and pretty much every piece of evidence about that I've found is valid; we aren't living in that period because it already came and went about 2,000 years ago! If we were still living in that time, we wouldn't have computers or phones or televisions! Long story short, I've come to the valid belief that there will be no official, true end, because I don't believe in such a thing. We've got PLENTY of time to live on Earth; trillions of billions of years in fact. Trust me, I'm a smart person, and I don't fall for bull[clip]. Sorry for the huge post, but I just needed to vent a little.

I can see this is a problem to you. The world will not "end" but the planet will be uninhabitable any number of ways, the sun dying, the atmosphere burning off, comets hitting that sort of thing. We are thinking it is at its half life now. The human race may survive elsewhere. Perhaps that sort of time "the end of life" will never come.

You know, I think I'm like you on this topic. Obviously there will never be a judgement day, but people throughout history and in all cultures keep saying that today is the end. What I try to do is address the main problem. They're so ready to believe in doomsday because they have the attitude that life sucks and could not possibly get any worse. Trying to convince them otherwise is mostly a fool's game, but sometimes it works and you get a smile.
