Diary & Ranting - Stuck with Kiddie shows all day!!

I'm a nice person and all, but that doesn't mean I don't suffer from stress and anger problems. I have a little sister who's 4 years old, and she watches Nick JR. all day while I have to babysit her. Now, don't get me wrong; I have NO PROBLEM whatsoever with keeping an eye on a younger sibling, and I hold myself responsible for that because my dad would have my ass over a fireplace if something happened to her while I was babysitting. But let's face it, sometimes you can only take so much of the same thing! Am I right?! Sitting at the computer trying to play Fallout New Vegas with things like Blues Clues, Pocoyo or whatever is an inanimate object with a fabric smiley face and sings about household items all day on the T.V. screen, admittedly it gets annoying after a while. I may be a young adult with a big heart but as I said before, a guy can only take so much. I am literally getting headaches from these things running all day. I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like a mean person, because I'm not, but if I vented this to my parents they'd just get pissed at me. I'm serious when I say that I get headaches from listening to these shows. The *only* real solution I've found is to go to something like Garry's Mod (a sandbox game I play sometimes), and create something difficult that distracts me enough, or just go to YouTube and look for a frantic Japanese song. Eh, I can't say that being stuck with kid's shows all day is the WORST thing to happen to me (try yard work for four hours a day in a windy autumn and tell me how that went), and I'd give anything to have my little sister at my side, honestly I would, but I don't want to lie; Dora's voice is starting to sound like a dyslexic mouse stuck in an eight-sided laboratory maze.

While I'd say I prefer Pocoyo to those games you listed (straight truth: I find those harder on the head), I babysit my four-year-old nephew occasionally and guess what? He has the EXACT taste in shows. When I'm babysitting alone, I don't let him turn on the TV. But his grandfather lets him watch TV literally all day. So sometimes he expects it. Oh, and he LOVES Dora *and* Blues Clues! (Now, I like Pocoyo. It's smart and funny and Stephen Fry's wonderful. But those shows are bland and repetitive and I am with you a hundred percent on them). What I do is try to get him to play outside with me. We don't even play sometimes. He's four, but he likes coming with me on my runs and stuff. I don't know if your younger sister is all that into jumping around like a maniac, but maybe crank YouTube to some hi-energy J-Pop or even J-Rock (she might be a little young for Dir en grey though...) and just let loose. It'll help kill the stuck mouse feeling, and your little sister will think you're awesome.

That would kind of kill Fallout New Vegas, huh? Have T.V. time for an hour then make her do something else.

Heh, I suppose it would. In the short-term. Is she a napper? Because my nephew usually passes out after a little while of jumping around. Then when she's konked out-Fallout party?
