Advice appreciated

Right ive been texting a guy and I was the first to contact him through facebook. We have been having general conversations about Uni etc but I would like to take it further. We were both at school together 4 years ago and haven't seen each other since. I was incredibly shy at school and had some issues which I have overcome so didn't really talk to boys. He has also admitted to being shy in the past. There is a good 50 or more miles between us but I am willing to travel. I just want a chance I have changed so much and have a lot to give. PLEASE help or give some advice. Thank you
