i am from the uk and im coming to the end of my mental health nursing degree and i have Loved every minute of it (they wont be able to stop me working until they carry me out in a box. i have also been in a relationship with my boyfriend for 3 years (we met shortly after i started university) and i am absolutly bessotted by him, i have never loved anyone as much as i love him, and he feels the same for me and we would do absolutly nything for eachother (which was proven true when he pushed me out of the way of a car when i wasnt paying attention and got hit by it himself) it is perfect (even though we have ups and downs). anyway, since being 15 years old (i am now 26) it has been a dream of mine that i will one day be able to live in america as an american citizen and make a life there, in fact its less of a dream but more of a "that is what im going to do" kind of thing. so my problem is this my boyfriend is absolutely refusing to move to america because he hates it as he says its too expensive and he would never want to live there..... what can i do? i dont want to sacrifice my dreams for a relationship but at the same time i dont want this to be the thing that breaks us apart....

At first I thought he was keeping you from your job, but I'm glad to see that he's not. This might be something that requires a compromise. You will still get your Nursing dream (great dream, by the way). What might work is if you two took a vacation to the place where you want to live. Your boyfriend might be afraid of the unknown, and his prickliness is a way of masking that. I'm not American, but from what I've heard the real cost is school (and healthcare if you are not a resident). Otherwise, it's like any other developed country. Best of luck with it!
