No contact rule help!

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 10 months and we were both completely in love with each other, but we couldn't really hangout all that much due to my very strict parennts and it caused problems. Well first he started off just wanting a break a couple of weeks ago until I got my car, because we couldn't see each other and we argued a lot, and he said he was tired of missing me. I tried out the no contact rule and he called me about everyday wanting to talk, but then he wouldn't reply to my texts. He ended up calling me one night crying saying he needed me and asked me to come over, so I did. Then the next day he claimed that he "did that for me" and that we still aren't together. Now he said he won't give me any more chances because he's already given me too many. He said this was as hard for him as it was for me and he wishes he didn't have to say goodbye and that he still loves me. We talked today, because he was asking if I got my car, and I said I didn't, and he got mad and now he won't talk to me. I sent him a text a little bit ago, and pretty much said I wouldn't text him anymore, kind of making him think I give up trying. Should I try the no contact rule until I get my car, or would that just make it easier for him to move on and just forget about me? I'm still completely in love with him, and I really don't want to lose him. Any advice on this situation would be highly appreciated!
