I'm an unemployed mother of two teenagers and seeking serious advise only! I have an opportunity to complete a program and receive a certification in the medical field within 8 months. My goal is to also complete my AS degree in the evening at the same time and apply for a part-time job for the weekends. Should I give up this opportunity and work two jobs to make ends or go for the chance to better our lives overall? We're living on our child support and one of my teenagers has a part job.

Hi my advice is to sit down and workout is it possible financially over the next 8 months. Is it also possible without jeopardizing your other commitments. If this is possible to do then make a plan and follow it religiously over the next 8 months. Such as taking care of you and keep yourself strong for this new challenge. Sometimes you have to struggle in order to move forward. I would grab the opportunity with both hands I admire admire what you are doing for yourself and being a great role model for your kids. I wish you luck ......

There's an opportunity to improve your live. I'd try to take any opportunities like that, that life throws at you. As mountain as said you're probably gonna wanna plan this out before hand. Figure out will you have enough money to sustain you and the teenagers? What about time? Will you have enough time to effectively complete both your AS degree and this program to a high degree of skill? That would take a lot of dedication, very much so over a 8 month period it isn't going to be easy. Also another important factor, do you like what this program offers? Will you be interested in it enough to be dedicated and want to do well? Will there be many job opportunities for you in your area after you get this? How reliable is a part-time job going to be on the week-ends? How about your teenagers part time job? Do you depend on that a bit too? Or is their earnings their earnings? Will that part time job hold if that's the case? If something goes wrong, do you have a back up plan? Always have a back-up plan, something may always go wrong and you don't want some detrimental circumstance occurring, maybe someone to fall back on financially? Who'd be willing to help? Main things I'd focus on is it possible? Second create a back-up plan. Third what next after you've done this? Fourth Can you do this? Are you mentally motivated and ready for this long stretch? I hope that helped, I wish you good luck on this endeavor and I hope you have a wonderful day :)

One other important thing to do is really analyze your school and see how realistic your career options upon graduation are. Especially if this is a for-profit school which are notoriously shady. You don't want to make all those sacrifices and end up even worse off.
