Hi, I just read your post which I see you posted a week ago but I thought I could offer you advice. If anything, my greatest piece of advice would be to not ignore the voice telling you to stop drinking. I was living with my alcoholic ex and after a while, realised his drinking habits were rubbing off on me. When it gets to the point where every day you are starting to feel you "need" a drink, this is a big wake up call- if not the last port of call your body gives you before you head down the road of alcoholism and dependency. For me, my 3 year old son was my motivation. I had to break this habit because he didn't need 2 alcoholic parents and a sad childhood. I did it for him firstly and then for myself. It wasn't easy either. I removed myself and child from that very bad environment and went cold turkey. It wasn't easy but within a week I knew it was better. I still do drink on occasion, but I can't help but think if I had gone to the point of becoming an alcoholic, if you can ever sober up after, you have to kiss goodbye even the odd social drink. I also have a constant reminder in my family of my auntie who lost custody of her 3 kids to her ex and gets 1 day a year visitation with them due to her alcoholism. I started replacing the urge to drink with other things that made me feel better about myself. Even small things like painting my nails or doing a facial. These make you feel better about yourself and all the money you don't spend on alcohol you can spend on treating yourself to something lasting that you can enjoy. I hope this is of some help. Don't give up on yourself and best wishes
