My muslim friend can't divorce

Hi all,

I have a Muslim friend who married a man, he was good before marriage, after the marriage he started humiliating her and beating her. then he was arrested because he stole a big amount of money. now he's in prison, he called her and told her he won't divorce her unless she pays him a big amount of money. she decided to do prostitution because she don't have money, and she's very afraid to return back to his home because he will be unrestrainted soon. i'm terribly sad, and don't know how to help her. i love her and can't imagine her doing this.
