I don't smoke but my parents smoke. Is this bad for me

I live with my parents, and they smoke in the house while I am around them. Sometimes their smoke makes me feel sick, and I often choke when I'm watching telly, because there's a thick cloud of it in the room. In the summer it isn't so bad because the windows are open a lot, but last winter was really bad for me. What should I do? Is this going to affect my health?

Smoke from your parent's cigarettes will certainly affect you. It could cause you breathing problems, and the smoke will make your clothes smell if your parents smoke heavily. You need to discuss your concerns with your parents, advising them that it will affect your health, not just their own. You can't force them to stop smoking of course, because they will only stop if, and when they want to.

Yeah, Lisa's right, you definately need to discuss this informally with your parents. Not sure how old you are, but parental smoking increases the risk of you suffering from asthma if you are under 16, and/or wheezing if you are over that age.
