I think my dog has got a broken toe

Please can someone give me advice on how to find out if my dog has got a broken toe. I can't afford to take him to the vet, and other people have told me that if it is broken, that it will heal with time like it would for a human.

Are you sure that it is broken, and not just a problem with your dog's nails? Broken nails are painful and will often lead to licking and gnawing at the affected tow or pay, so you should check this out. This can even cause redness and swelling of the area. A vet will treat broken nails if necessary, but you can learn how to do this yourself. If it is more serious, like a broken toe, then it is unlikely that you will be able to treat it yourself. If you can't afford a vet, then you should at least phone the vets surgery for advice and explain that you can't afford for your dog to be seen.
