I am a 60 year old male who has been married for 39 years to the same woman. She is a very caring and devoted wife and mother. We have worked side by side in different businesses for the last 16 years, 24/7. In that time we have both worked very hard and continuosly tired physically and emotionally. We love each other very much but I am finding that sex and passion has gone. My wife especially doesn't want sex, does not like me touching her intimately and when i do she says it hurts her. She wont go and get herself checked out. We haven't had any meaningful sex for well over a year! I am getting very frustrated and dont know what to do. Even when i try to give her a cuddle or a passionate kiss its like a wet blanket!(no response ).I am sick of having to pleasure myself as she doesnt even want to touch my penis. Am i being unreasonable to still want to still have sex in our marriage as i dont think that i am ready for celibacy?

Woman who have gone through menopause lose estrogen will develop what is called vaginal atrophy, the linng of the vigina wall thins out and the vaginal area becomes dry, intercourse becomes so painful that woman stop having sex rather than endure the pain. So believe her when she says "it hurts. Some woman experience pain so bad that they have described the pain as "if someone was cutting them from the inside". My Mom went through this and was open with me about what to expect. More woman are now bringing awareness to this problem. She must see her ob gyn and be open and honest of what she is experiencing. There are website where she can get informations try searching "vaginal atrophy". There are some vaginal creams and pills on the market that can help. Lubricants like K-Y Jelly do not address this problem. You must get her see her ob gyn/or family doctor asap.
