What's caused you to feel you're not a good wife?

Me over hearing him say to a Friend, that he doesn't like being open with me. He tells his friends everything but not me. We have had many talks about this and I don't know what to do.

Overheard the entire conversation so that you had the full context for that statement, or just a snippet? Whichever, that statement doesn't necessarily mean your husband thinks you're not a good wife, it just means he prefers not to confide his worries, fears and problems in you. I can't say for sure from here, but the usual reason is when they're a traditionalist and don't want to weaken their macho image in their woman's eyes and cease being so impressive to her, seeing appearing vulnerable in any way, shape or form as somehow less than manly/sexy. If that's the case then that puts you far above his friends in his eyes, their being more 'dispensable' than you or their subsequent opinions less important. Whether or not it's a barrier to true mental intimacy between the pair of you is another question and depends on whether he finds a way of getting round it by upping his ante in myriad other ways, in terms of how he tends to behave towards you. Does he?

When your husband does tell you things, how do you react? If you tend to be defensive or unsupportive, he's more than likely going to avoid confiding in you. If you tend to be a worry wart, he may be trying to keep you from stressing out because that could end up making him stress out, in turn making his situation worse and causing a revolving circle. It really depends on what he's not telling you. Try to find something, anything positive in whatever it is that he's talking about.
