Is Mr. Dick Head a racist, sexist and cold-blooded boss?

My boss, Dick Head, called me to say I would lose my part-time job in two weeks. I've had a great work history for six years. He said he had no complaints and may use me on-call if a need arises. I questioned his decision and asked him to walk me through how and why he had come to this decision out of the blue. The part-time work is based on contracted referrals. Dick Head told me I would always have a job as long as he had the work on the days I was scheduled. A few years ago Dick cut one of my four shifts and others were cut too. A couple of months ago Dick cut my second shift, leaving me with two shifts on one day. He also cut others and warned all of us that referrals were not coming in like before due to other agencies snatching some of our referrals. Dick shut down one office and moved one worker to the main office. Despite the slack in referrals Dick Head's business was still profiting. I was told the day of my shifts was popular and he did not foresee it closing. I felt secure because the two shifts brought in lots of revenue. Dick was down to four workers. One worked in another off-site office two or three days. The three of us in the main office were me working one day two shifts, the second worker was working three shifts on one day, but it was cut to two shifts on one day. The third worker was working three shifts on two days. When Dick called he said he was ending the third worker's one shift on one day, so he would have two shifts on two days. The second worker would maintain his two shifts on one day. When I asked Dick Head why the third worker was taking my two shifts on one, giving him four shifts on two days and the other second worker two shifts on one day and me with nothing. I reminded Dick Head that he assured me my job was secure as long as the referrals were there. Clearly, if he was moving the third worker to my day and terminating me something was not right. Dick continued to claim I was a great employee, he has received no complaints, my shifts were still thriving, and my termination was not personal. I told him it certainly felt personal! Again, I asked for an explanation. Dick claimed he could not afford to keep three workers, so he was cutting back to two. I said that did not make sense since the referrals paid our salaries. I asked if my salary was more than the third worker taking me shifts and he said no. I said so, you will make the same amount of money on two shifts for each of the three days, but somehow he suddenly could only afford two workers. Dick Head is very passive-aggressive, wishy-washy and a liar, so you have to play Columbo with him to get something that resembles a logical and legitimate answer. I would feel better if Dick Head would just say, "I own the damn business and that's what I want to do." But no, he's too muck of a jerk for that. He has to play games. After more pressuring to find out why I am receiving a phone call telling me I will be losing my job after six years, but there was no problem with me or my work. Finally, Dick came up with the excuse that he just did not want to pay for liability insurance on three employees. Dick Head confirmed he would pay the same amount of money for the shifts whether it was me or the third worker, but now he claims he did not want to pay $500 times three for liability insurance for each of us. I am sure this is still a line of bull because Dick Head always lies. He has never ever whined about being unable to afford the liability insurance in the six years I've worked. I asked Dick Head to explain how he came to the decision to terminate me as opposed to the second or third worker. He claimed it was because they have been with him longer. This is true, but the second and third workers are white males, Dick is a white male, and the remote office worker is a white male. I am the only female who happens to be Black. Dick also stated he wants two workers who can offer referrals very similar service. I reminded him that for the past six years, he has said he wanted diversity and different styles of service. I asked Dick Head if there was a clause in his contract with the non-profit government agency that stated he must employ a minority to continue receiving his referrals. He said no because he has had minorities and women in the past. Dick had one Black guy in his 30+ years and I got my job because the Black guy died. Now, he is claiming having a minority is no longer an issue. I think Dick Head wants a "white" house filled with whiteness, so he made up all of this song and dance crap about not wanting to pay liability insurance. Here's how cold-blooded, racist and sexist Dick Head is. I asked him how could he terminate me knowing my only income is the part-time job with him. The white males all have full-time jobs. The third worker Dick Head is giving my shifts to owns a business and is absent on a regular basis because he has made it clear that his business takes priority over the part-time job. I have had to cover his shifts often over six years. Since it is my sole income, I never missed my shifts. If I don't work, I don't get paid, so I could not afford to miss. I have had great attendance, great customer service, great interactions with other agencies, and no complaints. Dick Head said he would give me a glowing reference letter and would like to know I will be available as a fill-in. I don't know who I will be able to work as a fill-in without the liability insurance Dick Head claimed he did not want to pay for me. I am healthy, slim, sane, and have been of no threat to his business. When I spoke with the third worker about this stunt Dick has pulled, he assured me that he did not ask for more shifts and would be happier with the two shifts on one day. He said four shifts on two days will interfere with his business and he may tell Dick Head that he would rather see me with the shifts. He asked if I would still be able to cover his shifts if Dick allowed it. I said yes and he said he would speak with Dick. He admitted that he did not think to question Dick Head as I did and maybe he should have considering the unfairness of the situation. Please share any thoughts, comments, or ask questions. I really feel Dick Head is almost being openly racist and sexist, but I cannot prove it

Especially after 6 long years of loyal service. Then, despite being part-time as normally doesn't afford you proper employee rights to unfair dismissal recourse, and assuming you could demonstrate/prove he indeed still *does* 'have work' that you could be doing - Mr Head went and forged a watertight contract between him/his business and you because in law (assuming it hasn't changed that drastically since I last looked), the verbal outdoes any written version where the two don't align. What a Mr Head indeed! He's now obviously counting on you having the same level of apathy that most others have in these and similar situations as will hopefully see you just slinking off quietly into the sunset, more intent in finding a source of money in the record time he 'afforded' you (yeah, he's an habitual snake, alright). He reckons WRONG, then, doesn't he ("nyyyeaaa [chomp-chomp!]...he don't know you vewy wew, do he!"). Not very sensitive or perceptive at reading people and getting their numbers, is he, more's his up-his-own-a*se pity. Get thy own a*se to whatever industry tribunal and teach him a lesson. They'll do all the work and representing FOR you, and it's up to HIM to prove his innocence, not you yours or you to prove his guilt. Plus he's a duper, thus liar. Translation: I asked the liar if he was lying and he said NO. I doubt your colour has anything much to do with it and it's actually purely because you're the woman (and might some day get pregnant and leave). Oh-ho-HO....Sex Discrimination to-boot! It's called, you won't have me prosecuted tribunally if you think you might lose this (pretend) carrot I've just waved in your now-hungry face. " You've got a subpoena-able witness! EEEZ GOIN' DAAAAAAAAN!

He has already told me my last day, but he asked if I would be willing to fill in. This is his attempt to deny unemployment benefits. I'm sure he will tell unemployment office that he will give me hours. He even had the nerve to tell me about other jobs he verified was hiring. I'm sure he plans to give this information to unemployment. I need to figure out how to get around the deceitful plot he has in place to deny unemployment. I have no intentions of running in at the last minute to fill in or applying for the jobs he found for me to apply to. I want to collect unemployment while I research and choose to apply for jobs I am interested in.
