Hello, I have a gambling problem. I am young and unemployed but I do have good savings from previous work. I played an online dice roll game. It is not a rigged game (I won't go into detail, but this much I can guarantee). This was a few days ago, and I was just curious with a simple bet of about $50. I must have been EXTREMELY lucky, because within 5 minutes of very good guesses, my prize pool was roughly $5000 already. But being the extreme idiot I am, I didn't cash it out, and eventually lost it all. Since then, I figured that I could reach that prize pool again (since my first time was so easy, I was confident). Needless to say I lost, and lost and lost and lost. It's been about three days and my loses have reached around $800 already. I keep telling myself that all I have to do is achieve the same thing I already achieved before and I will recover all I lost. So I keep going at it. First of all, I am glad to say that I have acknowledged my problem. That's the first step. I recognize that I have an issue with gambling. I am also relieved to say that the detection was fairly early (just a few days). However, stopping is not so easy. One thing about me is that I am exceptionally stubborn. I keep telling myself I can do this, I can do this, I already did it once, I can do it again. Making matters worse is that I know that the game is not rigged against me (the dice rolls can be verified with third party tools and they are indeed correct), which gives me confidence. I know I am taking the right steps by asking for help here. I don't feel comfortable enough go to an actual help group yet, and I hope I don't need to. But this compulsion in me is really, really strong. For a while I feel like I am completely fine and I can leave this behind, but SUDDENLY I find myself funding another round with a confident "I can do this". I live alone, so the repercussions of my addiction are not exactly reflected on anyone other than me. Thank you for reading.

Young and unemployed Could be the most dangerous time of your life... or the most GLORIOUS. It depends on what you put in front of you. You FEED yourself. You feed yourself with what you put in front of you... and now you need to feed yourself something else. You have chosen gambling and now gambling has chosen you. I say that because its addictive. Scientifically your brain made a path in a direction that was exciting, that held your attention and then a flow of energy was felt win or lose. Your brain wants to repeat that pattern. That's ALL. So, you just need to find your balance again. Change the chemistry of your brain. Go for a RUN. Go play a sport. And think of other things, put in your best play lists.. that have you wanting to rock out. Its as simple as that. Put your attention on all the different kinds of things people are doing with THEIR time.. and be inspired. You have to use your WILL to choose to do other things. You have to remember that there are billions of other things that you could be doing that are cool. Then do them, one after another after another after another. Because truly that is all life is. One project, one experience.. after another after another after another after another.. .until we die. You are stuck in a loop. A bad one. I am thinking about suggesting 2 films, but it is important for you to use your mind correctly while watching them. You cant watch them and think to yourself that THIS IS GREAT!! EXCITING!! I LOVE GAMBLING. Becauase it will only further interest you in gambling. Watch RUNNER RUNNER through the REAL artist Justin Timberlake's eyes ..how he sees his characters life and his struggle. Justin is playing the role.. because he wants to protect people from being anything like his character. I want you to watch the films with a sense of fear, and the purpose to understand the science of the mind. I want you to look at their REALITY, the reality they built and have chosen... and understand that there are billions of other realities that you could be creating for yourself, being a part of, spending your time in.... enjoying yourself, enjoying your life. Feel sorry for these characters and think to yourself... all the other things they COULD be doing... with all that life has to offer!! If you make the decision to STOP. Clear out the programs from computer, clean out your apartment or house make it comfortable to be in, ready for anything, maybe some friends over to do something cool, go for that run, or swimming, or sport. These films should help support your decision to stop. You have to think to yourself aswell.. why are these guys making these films? Its because they know its addictive and they are trying to teach people through art what happens to our mind, our life...something you can see by watching THEM. Studying their character. Looking at the reality they have built. THE GAMBLER with Marc Walburg - This is a very powerful film. You can see Marcs struggle really clearly, the addiction that has such a strong hold on him. It was finding purpose that helped him. You see, people that are very intelligent, very smart... get BORED. They NEED to occupy their minds, otherwise they get restless. They feel lifeless. They need something that stimulates their brain, engages them into something exciting. I don't want to give the ending away.. but when you watch it, maybe you will tell me what you think I will say. RUNNER RUNNER with Justin Timberlake - Let me say for one minute first, that you said that you checked from a third party that this is legit. How do you know that that third party's office isn't right next to the gambling sites. It sounds to me to be a scam. You won when you first registered or when they first registered your IP address and you have been losing since!! Addiction studies are used by the enemy too, they know how to manipulate people. This movie is all about the dangers of getting involved in this world in general. Its toxic. Its not healthy, and you certainly are not happy. You are stuck in their web...and the life is being sucked out of you. Just as a tip.... When you feel the need to gamble.... do jumping jacks, go for a run. Do something that changes your physiology... and that impulse.. the need that you cant control... will be subdued. Dont stop the activity until you know the next few things that you will be doing with your tim

You must find projects to do. When we work, we are given projects to do for an employer that contribute to their vision, their goals. What are some of yours? What are your interests? What is important to YOU? Projects build who we are and what we believe in. What are your interests, and skills. Lets say for a minute that you are a millionaire. You are you. The world is what it is. What do you want to do for yourself. What do you want to do in the world? What matters to you? What do you live for... what do you do that fulfills you.. because it wont be money and it wont be shopping. This is what I meant by... this time could be the most GLORIOUS. I think we had the answers to life in grade 3. In grade 3 we knew we wanted to discover the world, and we did so one project, one experience after another. We had dreams of all the possibilities that there were in what and who we could be, what we could do. We loved music. We loved art. We loved ourselves. We cared for one another. We explored and found freedom in our imagination We were creative We experienced something and we wanted to know more We had questions about life and we sought out answers We created presentations, collecting information My grade 3 teacher was super special... we used to sing and dance truth!! Today people are buying a CD, and then onto the next. Watching a movie and then distracted by something else. Hanging out with friends and not learning anything, not experiencing anything When... we could be.... trying to understand life for ourselves, from others points of view, from artists points of view, from the creators intention. We are not thinking for ourselves. We are not fueling ourselves to BE something, equipping ourselves to being able to DO things...that help. Boredom.... is now a choice. It used to be that people didn't have books, or television... and here we are with the internet.. the entire world at our fingertips... and we are bored. Expand your vision by looking at the entire world and then use the world to fit into your vision... instead of falling into a different worlds traps. Go on youtube and play Beyonces I WAS HERE. Any video is great, but there is a beautiful live performance at the United Nations.

Hershell - "I was just curious with a simple bet of about $50...I must have been EXTREMELY lucky, because within 5 minutes of very good guesses, my prize pool was roughly $5000 already. But being the extreme idiot I am, I didn't cash it out, and eventually lost it all." You weren't extremely lucky. You're weren't lucky full-stop. They MADE SURE you'd win! This is how they hook you (b***ards!). Even if you HAD cashed it out...would have made no difference because they deliberately manipulate you VIA that initial stroke of 'luck' (which they KNOW a person's going to take own and 'higher power' credit for). They secretly whistle at, awaken and lure out of its pen your greedy, naive, procurements-obsessed, unused to modern sophistications, inner HAIRLESS APE. (We all still have one inside us, mentally.) Yours is obviously very over-focused when roused and tempted in this specific arena (because it doesn't want to have to do a regular job?). So even if you had cashed it out...your inner naked ape would have stupidly wanted to, ultimately, put it all back in again TO RE-EXPERIENCE THAT RUSH OF 'AREN'T I CLEVER' AND 'YUM-YUM-YUM, GOODIES, EASY MONEY!'. No, it's not easy money, is it. It's easy LOSS of money. You've been being manipulated...treated like a complete and utter fool. Some other blokes are as we speak (via their salary packets) sharing YOUR money amongst their greedy, exploitative selves and thinking themselves sooo much cleverer and cunning than you. Say it with me: what B***ARDS!!!! What are you going to do about it? Are you going to let them basically and tantamountedly rape you (of your precious savings) a further time by putting Rohipnol in your drink?

Other films that will help you out of this bubble.. and into another are SOUL SURFER. Its a story about a girl that knows exactly what she wants to do with her life and will stop at nothing to live the life of her dreams. INTERNSHIP. With Vince Vaughn is also a great film that shows a spectrum of different people with different backgrounds engaging in what life has to offer. Each scene puts a spotlight on what is important for us, presenting a balanced lifestyle as they find balance as a team. If you REALLY want to understand yourself... watch the movie BIG with TOM HANKS!! I was chatting with a young man that titled his thread "Relatively Typical Teenage Crush Problem, Thing... " I started to break down the film with him there.. check it out. I can be a little to enthusiastic... I think he thinks Im a nerd... but its cool to think. I was always a nerd, then I tried to be what the world reflected and wanted me to be, but now Im a nerd again.... and I wouldn't have it any other way. Films are oozing in metaphors!!! They are amazing. Even here on this website.. you can clearly see... all the different realities people have. What we need to remember is that we all have the power to create our own!!!

So stepping back to the point, that is going to help you move forward is... what is your business? Think of that question on all levels. WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS? Its none of my business until you asked for help and I made it my business to help you. You see I am not talking about an office type business. WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS? Put that question on a piece of paper in bold... and contribute answers as they come to you. Fill up pages and pages. While you clean, repair, and design your home or apartment the next few days.

Tired of thinking? Watch films listen to music... go have fun. STOP the gambling now, and say to yourself... lets pretend I gambled for another couple weeks... and lost 1000 dollars. What would I rather do with that money.... I could have taken a cruise, or found a spot on a beach with some books and markers. Traveled to that place I have always wanted to go... do something Ive really been wanting to do!! And that's it. Go. I happen to believe that this small situation in your life.. will prove valuable in the future. I am not someone that says that everything happens for a reason. I am saying that we are meant to learn from our experiences because life is so interconnected. This situation is not just about gambling. This situation is about the power of our mind and the awareness and control that we need to have over it to direct our lives. Its about science and it is about art.

At this very moment... I am making it my business to create some art that reflects an important point I brought up with you. "I am not someone that says that everything happens for a reason. I am saying that we are meant to learn from our experiences because life is so interconnected. This situation is not just about gambling. This situation is about the power of our mind and the awareness and control that we need to have over it to direct our lives" Im going to present the idea in a butterfly. Painting it with designs that impress the idea that our negative experiences have value to them if we look to learn all that we can. I will remember you and your situation associated with it too...further impressing the idea. There are too many important things to remember in life... ART is a wonderful way to teach ourselves. We can say that we are all kinds of things in life, doctors, lawyers, accountants... but what we truly are...is artists.

Luvbird, Loving your enthusiasm, but - could I ask that you be a little more careful about not bombarding any thread with separate post after separate post in unbroken succession like you’re tending to do, please? Not only might the OP concerned end up feeling unnecessarily overwhelmed, with their thread ending up looking somewhat messy, but, also, all participants electing to receive private email alerts are liable to get the same end effect and sense with regards to their in-boxes at home. Perhaps try drafting your response inside a Word document, instead, and then allowing yourself a ‘cooling-off’ period before copying and pasting here so that any afterthoughts ensure to get included within your original or main response? And then, that way, the quantity won't take away from any quality. Thanks for your cooperation. :-) Soulmate Moderator
