Wanting a commitment but ex is on the mind

Hello all! Newbie here and excited to jump right in! I'm a 24 y/o living with my parent still but have started by career. I'm in a 8 year relationship with a man that also lives with his parents and is steady into his career. He is extremely close to his parents and would probably be titled a "mommy's boy". After being together so long I am ready for a commitment and to start our life together. He has reservation about the financial aspect and future plans. He says he wants to marry me but has not proposed or made any effort in that direction. I love him, we are best friends, and I picture myself with him in the future but I worry that he will not commit and leave his parents. On another note before dating him in high school, I dated my "first love" (whatever you want to call it when you're 15). I am kept up to date on him due to close families and have spent a lot of time thinking about him recently. Recently, I was at his childhood house with his family and could not quit thinking about the good times we had. It made me miss the fun and his goofy personality. He has always been unfaithful to girls and I know that he wouldn't change now. I just can't quit thinking about him and the possibility if we would still be together. Am I crazy? Should I stay in my relationship to wait for a commitment? Should I contact my ex? I'm so confused!

SusieDQQ is exactly right. In addition, you sound like you only have two choices. Ha! Get an apartment, never let anyone spend more than 6 hours at a time there, get accounts on 3 or 4 dating sites, and then see how many options you have.
