How can I get my boyfriend back

My boyfriend of 2 and a half years split up with me while he was at work, over the phone on Thursday. There is 130 mile distance between us which we have travelled every weekend to see each other. His nan is currently dying, he is being evicted and is stresed at work. He told me he loves me and this is the hardest thing he has ever done but he has been unhappy lately with me but can't pin point a reason. We have never even had a row. I have a new job lined up which I am due to start in the next month or so and we were due to be renting a flat his way to start the next chapter of our lives. I never wanted children, marriage or to fall this hard in love but he has come along and changed all that. I can't imagine being with anyone else, I don't even want to try. I want to be there for him and ultimately get him back. I have suggested I will still move and we date from there if he feels the move is too much at the moment (he was so excited about it). He says it won't work. He was crying during our conversation, I don't believe there is anyone else and I do believe he still loves me. How can i get him back? I'm breaking my heart.
