Jealous

I have been close to my sister-in-law (my husband's sister) for the last 37 years. After my sister, she is my best confidante. Lately, she has been hanging around my niece, (who is about 10 years younger than her) who is a huge drama queen. My niece has been dating this already engaged guy for 2 years and I hear nothing but horrible things abut this guy from my sister and my sister-in-law. Now my niece and this guy are engaged and for her second marriage she has asked my sister-in-law to be her matron of honor. I'm not even invited to the wedding because I guess it is for immediate family members only. I can't see past the jealous green monster to be happy for them and feel like a wedge has been driven between all of us forever. I can never talk to my sister again because she will tell my niece who will tell my sister-in-law. I can never tell my sister-in-law anything, because she will tell my niece who will tell my sister. The whole dynamic is changing and I don't like change. Guess I need to snap out of it, but it's hard.

Well, you definitely hit the nail on the head with the whole "you have felt left out for a while and now the wedding was the final straw." I totally agree with that. I guess they will be having a reception a month or so after the wedding for those who can't attend the ceremony. Maybe I'll have cooled down by then and will go. Unfortunately, I cannot just change how I feel. It does meld our families together for future holidays, etc. Sometimes they have issues going on in my niece's family and I just want to go to my sister-in-laws without all the drama. It's complicated. I wish my niece had called to mention it to me, (not that she needed permission) but maybe just to get my blessing. Instead they all kept it from me and then my sister-in-law just sprung it on me on the phone. No one has any manners or couth in this family. Thanks for the advice. I'll try to rise above it!!!
