Do I choose a dream job or my family/friends?

I’m 24 from CA, will be graduating soon, and am beginning the job search. I quickly received an offer from an amazing firm I used to intern for in an area I really love, however it’s all the way across the country in DC. I feel like this could be something really great for my career development, and I’m confident in my ability to be happy there, but I am a bit hesitant to follow through with building a life for an indefinite amount of time so far from home. I’ve reached out to some firms who do similar work near home, but communication has been inconsistent, and it’s still an unknown if I’d even like those companies. I’m wondering if I’d be just as happy sticking closer to home, where my family is closer if I need them, I have a couple friends from college, with a job that may not be my “dream job” but keeps me satisfied enough. One one hand things seem like they’re easily falling into place for DC, but then I think about what a big deal this is and wonder if it’s really worth all the change. Should I take the risk of moving my whole life so far from the people who love me, or should I give my search some more time, even if it means I might not find quite the equivalent opportunity?

You have the world at your feet at 24 and you need to take opportunies when they arise, particularly when you have done the 'hard yards' to get where you are now, but if you need your family close by then you have your answer. If DC was the ultimate way to go without looking back over your shoulder, then you wouldn't question going there...it's that simple.
