I am a biology major in my third year at college. I changed my major last year to biology. Ever since I have been getting really bad grades. I hate doing homework, I don't have the motivation so I failed two classes for the first time. I know I should tell my parents but I am so scared that they are going to cut me off and tell me that I shouldn't be in college. I also think I shouldn't be in college but have already spent so much money I can't stop now. I would lose my scholarships and money from FAFSA if I ever wanted to go back. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't in college because I don't even know what to do after college. I don't even know what to do I am so lost. some friendly advice would be nice.
HI, I think you should read the book Grit by Angela Duckworth. This book tells you that in order to live a successful life, not necessarily money wise but a happy life, one must have a purpose. You mentioned that you do not even know what you want. You need to find your purpose. So, you failed two classes, you need to decide if you like biology enough to continue and and if you don't, change again. There is nothing wrong with changing your degree. I changed it 3 times. Volunteer in places where you can get a perspective of something you might be interested in. Purpose is not something that one day you will know. It is not an ahaa moment. You have to try different things. regarding telling your parents, you mention that you are in your junior year? well then you do not have to tell them. Or do they ask for your grades to continue to support you? By the way I changed my minor in my last semester of college. It is okkey. However, just because you do not have a purpose it does not mean that you can half ass things. Try your best in everything. I know it is easier said than done, but it is okey to try something then decide that you do not like it.
Hope this helps.
