Having doubts about my future career

I've been in college for about 6 years due to COVID and other problems. I'm about to graduate w my degree in Communications and i'm starting to have doubts about where my future will go. I never made any time to seek connections or to network and i just don't really have an "in" to any sort of industry i'm interested in. I thought maybe sports journalism but the small owned journal I was looking into has some questionable morals and I don't know if I want to be apart of that. I think I just want some assurance and to know how hard is it to find a job post-grad?

Hi KeepRaving, Aren't there any other small sports journals/publishers near enough to you (or one where you could work online from home)? What are their questionables - do tell? How hard? These days - NOT EASY. How's your CV? And how old are you? (PS: six years is better than 3 :)) Helps majorly to have a Degree, though. AND being that much more mature. Even if you don't initially go for a job that calls for one. Really, you just need any job, initially, so that you can get your foot on the first rung of the working ladder and prove that you're not so up yourself you aren't prepared to do what it takes, AND that you have a thirst for work-work-any-work. FAR easier to get a job when you've already got one, though, (- some other employer has taken the risk of trying-and-testing you, for example). I used to like hiring 'second jobbers'. More confidence than a grad, but NOT hard-set in the ways of the previous job and employer that they can't still flex and be customised to your own and your company's ways. Really, though, you need other people in your same boat (more current) but slightly further up the path than you to respond, but I hope that helps as a starting point?

So many people have issues finding employment after graduation, and congratulations by the way on your accomplishment. It's never too late to start networking. The internet is great for that and it seems like you're on the right path. Just keep trying, and put yourself out there more so you can meet people with common goals and interests. Sometimes it's not what you know but who you know that can help you on your journey of success. You have so many opportunities out there you just need to discover what they are. But by networking, that is what's really going to help place you in that position much faster if you start now. It's not too late! Don't waste anymore time because now you know what you have to do. You just need to do it.
