Relationship problem of friend? Please help!!!

My best friend likes a guy. However, that guy likes another girl. She told me that one time she asked that guy how his relationship was. He said he was not sure and since he went on vacation, it properly kept a distance from each other, 6 weeks of doing nothing, he didn't take any grant for it. By his answer, she felt happy for that and she thought she still had chance. What should I need to tell her to give up? Or Does she really have chance? I don't want to disappoint and hurt later. I'm not good in solving relationship problem. Can anyone help me?
