The ex's best friend

I just graduated nursing school in May and became an RN recently--big changes. Not much earlier I resumed talking to an ex (circa 2008) and thought I may give it another try. We are still in very different places, but I was very pleased to have him back in my life and on good terms. The 4th of July we went on a romantic-ish adventure which ended up at his best friend's apartment. This best friend is back in town for a couple months from the military. He's a medic so we instantly had something in common. Not to mention he's one of the most attractive males I've ever been in contact with... Drinking, flirting, and I left feeling super confused. Several days later the three of us go biking together, more drinking and my ex suggests a massage train... then leaves to go out of town. After some awkward time passes we end up cuddling, massaging each other, then kissing and more.. Afterwards he falls asleep and I slip out to head home. It's literally ALL I've been able to think about. He doesn't do social media and I don't have his number so I have no idea what to make of it all. I don't want to crush my ex again and not be on speaking terms OR make a fool of myself by falling this hard without knowing how this guy feels. I know with him leaving soon it isn't a great idea, but obviously my heart doesn't know when is a good time to go for someone [given the situation] so... what now?

first of all. relax and take a deep breath. it seems like you dont know which one to choose. so let them do the choosing. whoever comes knocking should deserve a good chance for your heart. youve already given them an opening, they should take the next step in. enjoy :)

So I waited just over a week before the best friend got in touch with me. Things went well when I saw him again but he's not being too chatty. I wonder if I'm making the right decision to be available for him.
